Well, have I got some news for you! You can be any character you want in your own roleplay, but you have to have a few people already commit to joining it. Use the OOC to plan, then post it after you think it's okay. Once you have a few players, this is what you follow:
For your OOC, make sure your first post has all the information. If you're looking for more characters, if you aren't, what genre your roleplay is, if it's canon only or original characters, stuff like that.
In the actual roleplay, though, you need to state who is playing who. We'll use Soul Eater for example:
After that, describe the roleplay a bit with an opening post. Set the scene, post a few interactions between minor characters, introduce your character into the story, whatever it may be.
1x1 roleplays are different. The first post should only inform who will primarily be playing who. Other characters will be played as needed.
For mature roleplays, it'll be the same. Just make sure to specify why it is mature, if it's for violence or romance.
As always, if you aren't sure about something, ask a mod!
