So, you want to join the board? Think you have rorupurei netsu like me? There are ground rules we need to make first. Failure to comply with these rules will have serious consequences. Like, the world imploding! How do we roleplay on an imploded world, huh?
That aside, let's set the rules.
That aside, let's set the rules.
1. Break the rules, get kicked.
Simple, if you don't follow the rules, myself and my moderators have every right to kick you. You'll get a few chances, depending on your behavior and how often it happens. We want to give EVERYONE a chance to be on this board and have fun. Your right to have fun doesn't outweigh someone else's.2. Golden Rule!
Don't know what the golden rule is? Well, let me lay it out for you. Treat others how you want to be treated. This doesn't mean, "I don't care if people treat me like crap, I'll treat everyone like crap because they can do the same to me and I won't mind." No. It doesn't work that way. Have empathy, does the other person want to be treated like crap? Probably not. So let's all be nice.3. OOC is separate from roleplays.
Seasoned roleplayers know this, but I have to put this down in the rules anyways. Each board has these sub-boards for a reason. Need to talk out of character? Keep it to the OOC board or personal messages.4. Roleplay post minimums.
For OOC, there is no minimum. Post whatever, whenever. For roleplays, at least 5 sentences. At least means that's the minimum. Please try to show off your creative side. If you can't think of what else to add to your post, ask around. The mods can help, even if it's helping you write more fluff.
Kai says: If it's unavoidable to have a short post, don't worry. We will understand.5. Watch what you say.
I know it's hard to be politically correct these days, but keep in mind that you won't always know who's on the other side of that computer screen. We accept people from all walks of life, so deal with it.
Additionally, about swearing. If you keep it to a minimum and don't use the really bad words, (if you don't know what I mean, then you're probably good), you can swear. Make sure it's natural and how a person would really talk, not like an air craft carrier full of wannabe gangsters. Plus, keep it as civil as possible. If it's taking away from the quality of your post, we'll erase it and tell you to rewrite it. Don't test me on this!6. Absolutely no Mary Sues!
Seasoned roleplayers know what this means, but for you newbies I'll explain it. A Mary Sue is a character who is absolutely amazing, can do everything, everyone loves him/her, etc. A Mary Sue could also be a character portraying the writer. You newbies might be asking, "How do I know if my character is a Mary Sue or not?" Well, here's a great test for you:
www.onlyfiction.net/ms-test.html
It's long, but worth it to make sure you aren't making a Mary Sue. If you see a Mary Sue character, let a mod know.7. No killing, no injury.
Without permission, I mean. You can only kill or injure another character with the permission of the roleplayer. If you attack, expect only minor injury or a dodge unless the other roleplayer knows what your plans are. If you feel someone is being unfair about this rule, ask a mod.8. No godmodding!
Godmodding has many different definitions. Some people may think it's only one, "Don't act like God." That can actually be broken down into many different definitions. You are not omnipotent, you are not invincible, you cannot control space and time (unless it's canon to do so), if you sustain an injure you will have to heal, and you are not the absolute best at whatever. Stick to your character and what would really happen in the situation. If you're unsure, ask a mod.9. No pitty parties please.
Your sweetheart broke up with you and you want to talk to someone about it, don't make it public. We'll be there for you to cheer you up and such, but don't be a downer. If it's going to affect your roleplaying availability, then let us know. Otherwise, don't make it a big ordeal.10. Pretty posts.
This rule is probably more targeted to senior roleplayers. People who have been roleplaying for a long time might want to decorate their posts a bit. Different formatting, size, italics, bold, underline, strikethrough, color, etc. This is fine, go ahead. Make sure we can still read it, that your decorations aren't taking away from your actual posts, and that you don't spend two days on a post just because of your decorations.11. Keep it PG-13!
Not only will you get in trouble for this, I will too. And the board could be shut down. If it's too mature for PG-13, move it to the Mature board. If it's too mature for that board as well (which you can read the rules there to find out those guidelines), take it to private messages. If you're unsure if it's too mature or not, ask a mod.
You'll notice a "Mature" board. Well, if you think you should have access, ask a staff member.12. Ask a mod! Keep us updated!
We want to know what your plans are. If you're leaving for a long time, let everyone know. Including mods. If you see something you think we need to know about, report it. Even if you're sketchy about it, you're unsure. Let us know. If you're going to leave the board entirely, let us know. We'll miss you, but we don't just want you to disappear entirely. That's only if you're able to.13. Want to make a roleplay? Read the creation thread!
Since this entire board is being ran a bit different, there will be certain guidelines for creating a roleplay. It'll need to be set up in a certain style. Of course, your own roleplay will be under your control for the most part. If there's something that goes against the rules, a mod can change it or delete it.14. These rules are subject to change at any time.
So be sure to check in often. The rules may change depending on what's needed and recurring problems. If you see that there's been a recent change, make sure to check.
Just to make sure you read all of the rules, we're going to require a passcode for your application. You need to post your favorite color, just the color and nothing else, in your application. There will be a spot for it and everything for you to do it.
