Arms crossed, Alyssa followed after Melody, a few paces behind. She tutted at Melody's grumblings. "I wouldn't have to treat you like a child if you didn't act like one." She said in a matter-of-fact tone. She then took a second to check her phone. Normally she would be asleep by now, so she was curious as to what Flash Bang's fans were saying. Of course, she first texted her boss about the situation, thumbs running across the keyboard quicker than the eye could follow. Then, after texting her boss, she checked first her Facebook, then Twitter, then Instagram. She had fans in Russia? She could speak Russian! Poorly, but well enough to get the gist of what her Russian fans were saying. It... was comments about her chest that they doubted she would be able to read. Well, jokes on them, she responded with a few choice Russian slurs about having tiny brains to go along with their tiny dicks. Hah! That'll show them.
Walking into Melody's room, which was actually the first time Alyssa got a real good look at it, she noticed that the only thing resembling a bed was the big round chair-looking thing. She furrowed her brow and pointed. "Is... Is that your bed?" She cocked her hip, her head tilting to the side. How in the world would you sleep on something like that comfortably? How in the world were two people supposed to share something like that? "Uh... Huh..." She blinked once or twice before shrugging. "Well... I'm thinking... should I get in first? I mean, you're a tiny little thing, so I wouldn't want to squish you..." She looked out the door. "If we're gonna do that, you're probably going to have to sit in my lap while I apply the bruise cream, so I'll want to... er... get ready. Unless you have a better idea?"

Melody rolled her eyes and sighed, shaking her head at Alyssa. "I can take care of myself. I mean, I haven't died yet, at least." She shrugged and continued into her room, trying to remember if she had left anything out that might earn her some weird looks. After a quick once over, she decided that she hadn't left out anything incriminating, like weapons, pieces of her costume, dildos, or strange science experiments. As a general rule, she kept her room very tidy and organized, as long as you didn't look at her work desk, which was littered with photographs and half written articles.
When she turned to look at the other girl, she noticed her focus was on her bed. "Ah... about that... I probably should have mentioned that my bed is weird, huh? I like to sleep in a sort of half curled position, with my head elevated so I can breathe when my allergies flare up." She rubbed the back of her neck a little awkwardly and laughed, looking off somewhere else in the room. She puffed out her cheeks when she was referred to as "A tiny little thing" and crossed her arms. "I will have you know that I weighed myself the other day, and I'm up to 106 pounds!" She knew that she was small, with her petite frame and whooping 4 feet and 10 inches of height if she stretched her neck up. That was why she hid her frame under such bulky clothing, so it wasn't so obvious that she and the Siren where the same person. Still, she stood by the futon and gestured towards it before pulling her shirt off over her head.

Alyssa seemed to inflate in indignation. She was just about to say exactly what she thought about how well Melody took care of herself when a little voice in the back of her head reminded her that Melody was sick right now and needed the care more than she needed reprimanding. She then deflated and shook her head a little. "I have comments about exactly what I think of when you say you can take care of yourself, but those can wait." Now came the part she wasn't really looking forward to. "Umm... We should probably get ready for bed, I can get the bruise medicine on you after we're cozy. First..." She tossed the bruise cream onto the bed and scurried into her bathroom. She came back with a bottle of cold medicine. It was a first response medicine, packed with vitamin C, cough suppressants, fever reducers, and congestion relief. She measured a dose, then gave it to Melody. She waited for the girl to take it before nodding meaningfully and taking the dosing cup back. "Don't forget to brush your teeth."
Now was the embarrassing part for Alyssa. No, she shouldn't be embarrassed. So, why was her neck on fire? Why did it feel like she was wearing a ski mask? She brushed her teeth, glad they had separate bathrooms so that Melody wouldn't see the state of panic she was in. Why did she care so much about Melody seeing her without clothes? It was normal, she told herself, normal! She stepped into her room, took in a deep breath, then told herself it would be just fine. She wasn't planning on judging Melody for showing some skin, so she didn't think Melody would judge her either. Right? She wouldn't think Alyssa was fat and ugly? Melody already denied that she was fat. So, with a final burst of determination, she stripped all her clothes. Not even socks, nope. This would be for the best, she told herself. Then, with all her determination and resolve drained, she shuffled out of her room and peeked into Melody's room. "Er... you ready...?" Then, as if she had done something bad, she stepped into the doorway, arms behind her back, looking into the door jam, not wanting to see if Melody even had a reaction, let alone what it was.

Melody rolled her eyes at Alyssa as she watched her march out of the bedroom, knowing exactly the kinds of things that she thought about her ability to care for herself. She grimaced when Alyssa came back with the bottle of pure evil, wrinkling her nose at the thought of the taste of it. Even though she hated it, she knew that she wouldn't get out of it, so she just tipped it back in her mouth when it was handed to her, only gagging a few times as she tried to swallow it. It really was the most disgusting stuff she had tried, and that was saying something, since she had eaten Alyssa's cooking before. After the other girl left again, she did in fact, go to brush her teeth, washing the foul taste off of her tongue before washing her face and applying a moisturizing cream. That done, she returned to her room just before the other girl.
"What... What on earth are you doing?" She sweat-dropped at the way Alyssa hid herself behind the doorway, thinking it was absolutely absurd. "I'm not going to judge you for cellulite or stretch marks, if that's what you worry about. I have them too." And she did, gesturing to the ones she had along her hips from when she had hit a growth spurt. Yes. she had had those, believe it or not, and there had been a time she was even shorter than she was now. "Will you just come in here and get into bed? I'm tired..." She was hoping that using the most pitiful voice she could muster, and using her puppy eyes, would get Alyssa to overcome whatever was stopping her.

Tamping down the rising dread the best she could, Alyssa shuffled forward into the room. She had tunnel vision, a lot like the time that she fought that villain with the really stupid name. His name was... what? Zomb-Eye. He could control people's focus, either making everyone look away from him or focus solely on him. He worked with a group of petty thieves. It was terrifying when he would tell your eyes to focus solely on him. It made fighting almost impossible, and she had used up almost all her power that day just doing crowd control of his lackeys. In the end, however, he ended up in the Villain's Maximum Security Prison. Boy was Alyssa kind of wishing she could take that battle again, it was easy compared to this.
Noticing that she had been staring at Melody's bed now for almost a full minute, she gulped and mumbled something about how she was trying to think of anything she might have forgotten. What a stupid excuse, all she needed was the cream that was in her hand and literally nothing else. So, she climbed into the weird futon, partially curled due to the shape of it. She looked over at Melody, who she now realized was also naked. She swore that steam came out of her ears when her eyes landed on Melody's chest. Chiding herself once again that this was totally normal, she looked away and patted her lap. "I still need to rub you down-I mean! Apply this ointment..."

Melody chalked Alyssa's behavior up to unfamiliarity, since based on what she had been told, Alyssa wasn't the type who got out a lot, or had a lot of female friends to pal around with. Not that Melody had had time, either, she was just completely comfortable with being naked as long as it was in the privacy of her own home. Or out as a villain, she supposed, since she would have been just as well off if she had been, given the state she came out of the fight in. The other person had been worse off, though, she suspected that they might even be dead, by now. That was of little concern to her, so she shrugged it off.
"Are you really that freaked out by this? I mean, if I'm repulsive to look at, you could at least say something, instead of shuffling around so awkwardly." She didn't have such low self-esteem as Alyssa seemed to have, having been raised that there was nothing wrong with a little nudity amongst friends. Not that she could deny that seeing Alyssa nude wasn't very exciting to her, she just knew how to control herself. If she need to, she could always sneak out, grab a toy, and take care of things in another room before returning. Since the other girl already seemed so awkward, she decided to tease her a bit, knowing that Alyssa didn't bat for the other team. "It would be silly for me to refuse such an offer, after all, a good orgasm always seems to help me sleep."
She could only keep a straight face (no pun intended) for a few moments before she began to laugh again as she slowly got into bed with the other girl and nestled comfortably into her lap. At least, as comfortably as her wounds would allow her to.

"No, no, no, you're beautiful. I'm just... I'm not used to nudity..." Alyssa mumbled the last part, looking away from Melody. Then, Melody made the comment on her little Freudian slip, and her entire face turned strawberry red. With the expression of a deer in headlights, her body reacted without her telling it to. She carefully accepted Melody into her arms and held her close. Melody was slender, but very toned. Like a dancer or gymnast or something. "You... Uh... Are... Do... Umm..." Her mouth was refusing to work, she wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer to the question that was on the tip of her tongue. She swallowed and tried again. "So... Are you... Do you..." Nope, wasn't gonna work.
Melody's body was just too distracting, Alyssa couldn't untie her tongue. Where did she get muscles like this? She was a reporter, wasn't she? No, journalist, she reminded herself, and she chased after heroes and villains. Of course she would have to be able to dive out of harms way every so often, she must have quite a bit of practice. Maybe not enough, with how much she was banging herself up. That created a topic that Alyssa was able to focus on. Uncapping the ointment, she started applying it to Melody's skin. Even if it ended up on areas not bruised, it was packed with vitamins and minerals good for skin. "So... I never learned your pen name. Who do you write under?" Did writers guard their identity like heroes did? "What heroes do you write on? Do you follow any in particular or just pick up stories whenever you get the opportunity?"

Melody chuckled a little and rolled her eyes, thinking that Alyssa was such a funny girl when she was flustered and awkward. The way she responded to her little quip was exactly what she was expecting, in all honesty. She watched the other girl's reflection in a mirror she had hanging on the wall, the way she seemed to appraise her and skim over every part of her, maybe lingering on her breasts for a few moments longer than the rest of her. "Do I work out? Yeah. I go to the gym a few times a week, and I trained with the circus as a trapeze artist for around seven years after I was adopted." It wasn't quite the same type of trapeze, but she could swing and do tricks on those as well, so the lie held some truth to it.
She watched as Alyssa's skilled hands massaged ointment into her skin, taking away some of the aches and pains along with it. It was soothing, and made her body relax almost fully against the other girl as she let her head rest on her shoulder. When she looked down, she noticed that the creme seemed to rub away the tattoo cover she used, revealing bits and pieces of an intricate array of flowers on her left side. She had forgotten about that, and wondered how she could easily explain it away once Alyssa noticed. "Oh, it seems that it isn't everything proof, huh? I was testing a full coverage tattoo cover for another journalist, to see if it held up as well as it said it would. I must say, it lasted through everything I went through, so I would say it passes." She figured that was a good enough excuse, people wrote about makeup all the time. "As for my pen name, it's pretty lame, but my publisher thought for sure that it would click with the crowd, so I'm known as 'The Shadow Hunter' it really is awful." Almost as awful as the name she had been given as a villain, in truth. "I don't really follow heroes, actually. I follow villains. I've been following The Siren for the past year or so, since that normally has the least risk involved for me. Heroes are too over-rated and boring, or too flashy. Like that sparkler chick? Flash Bang, or whatever? God, she's so annoying with all the crackling and sparks. It's just sad."

That was definitely not the question that Alyssa was trying to ask, but she didn't dare ask the question she was thinking about earlier. It wasn't any of Alyssa's business who Melody preferred to take to bed, so long as it wasn't someone sleazy, abusive, or likely to steal from them. She squirmed her hips a bit, feeling mentally uncomfortable. Physically, she felt fine though. Melody really was a slip of a girl. "I... I work out too." If you could call the running around like an idiot that she did for her hero work 'working out.' It did keep her pretty toned.
Melody's talk about Flash Bang made Alyssa's hands stop for a moment. Play it cool, girl. You have plenty of haters, there's no reason to take it personal. The hype she got from the Hero League didn't help. Their extra hype was more a punishment to the CIA. In fact, it was like a blatant slap in the face that came along with a 'Don't you dare do that again.' Some of what had transpired with that was leaked out, so maybe it would be safe to talk about that. "I... I know about Flash Bang. I think she's trying to compensate for the CIA fiasco." Melody was bound to know about that. Reporters loved controversial pieces of knowledge. The other name she mentioned... "Who's this Siren person?" Honestly, Alyssa hadn't heard of this villain. Then again, she would have no reason to have heard of villains out of her jurisdiction. Heroes worked the opposite of cops. Where cops were encouraged to live far away from where they worked, heroes were asked to live in their jurisdiction. The difference was the fact that police had an 'off duty,' while heroes were always on call. Maybe The Siren was someone she would have to start worrying about? "What's their power? Like, sonic screeching or something?"

Melody nodded, letting her eyes fall closed. "I can tell, you look really lean and toned. I think it suits your personality, a hero in your own right, with your desire to save everyone." She opened her eyes again and smiled, tilting her head up so she could place an affectionate kiss on the other girls chin. "Even me. I know I've said it before, but thank you, for everything." She nestled a little more against Alyssa once she had completed her task, feeling rather comfortable in her embrace.
She was too relaxed to notice when her hands stopped moving, letting out a little hum of consideration about what Alyssa said. "That could be, and maybe I'm being too harsh. It's just one of those things where if someone always tries too hard, they seem like they're overcompensating with quantity instead of quality, you know?" She gave a little shrug and yawned. "I wasn't a journalist yet when all of that went down, but it's pretty notorious amongst editors, because of the amount of money those headlines made them." It didn't bother her to know that Alyssa didn't know who the Siren was, since she was active pretty far from her home, and she never did things that were national news worthy. As far as she knew, her death count was still at zero, since she didn't need to kill to accomplish her tasks. "No, nothing like that. She sings, and it seems to fully hypnotize men and girls that are either lesbian or bi. I just wear ear plugs or listen to music to drown it out, or she would probably get me too." She had found out more recently that it worked on girls that were interested in other girls, when it had been a woman who brought her the most valuable items. It had caught her off guard and made her suspicious at first, thinking it was a trap. Since then, she had noticed others as well. "She hasn't killed anyone, as far as I know, she just steals really valuable things, like jewelry, or art work, but she controls people so that they do it for her."

The hero comment made Alyssa shudder. She was trying not to be hero-like when off duty. If she was too out in the open like that, people might put two and two together. With the internet and software being what it was today, secret identities were hard to keep. Alyssa's scars were what saved her. Whenever she showed more than a tiny bit of skin, the small scars became extremely apparent. She was surprised that Melody wasn't repulsed by them. In fact, without realizing it, she had spoken aloud about it. "I'm surprised my scars don't scare you off..." She blushed when she realized that was out loud. She looked away, but was sure Melody didn't see or know that she was blushing.
Learning more about The Siren and Melody's reaction to her did answer a question that she was trying to ask earlier. Though, Alyssa had no idea what she wanted the information for. Now she wanted to ask stupid questions like, What kind of girls do you like? or Do you enjoy this more because you're into girls? or even as stupid as Am I attractive in your eyes? What would she even do with those answers? Curiosity killed the cat, so they said, so she wasn't going to let herself get too curious about it. Most of the information that Alyssa would want on The Siren, she could get from the Hero League's archives. Not everything she could get from them, however, so she decided to ask Melody. "Huh... Just a thief... You'd think that she'd want more power or something. Like... what's his face... The brain washing kid who liked to make people into suicide bombers. Ah, doesn't matter, he's locked up tight. Why do you think she keeps low key like that?" She thought it was a harmless question. Plus, with Melody's insight as a reporter, she might have some good information. Alyssa did realize that glancing over the revelation of Melody's sexual preference might be taken in a way that she didn't want. How did normal girls react? Did they say something like, No way! I had no idea that you played for both teams? The fact that she didn't know made her feel a bit more depressed about her own past. But, she hid the heartache under more action, the girl in her lap was still sick and beaten up. So, she got more ointment on her hands and began rubbing other places. "Did you get bruised anywhere I haven't gotten to yet?"

Melody tilted her head back when she felt Alyssa shudder, thinking it was because of the cold. She knew that she could certainly feel it, as goosebumps ran along her arms and legs, despite how feverishly warm she was to the touch. "Are you cold?" She could wrap them up in a blanket, if need be, she had plenty of them. The comment about her scars made her arch an eyebrow. "Why on earth would they scare me? Scars tell stories. All of mine are gone, faded by that cream that the military developed. Not that you heard about that from me. My adoptive mother is..." It wasn't the military, per se, but it was something like that. "She's an officer, so she has access to all kinds of neat stuff like that, so I don't have any scars to speak of." The only one she had that could be seen was on her elbow, where she had fallen and scraped most of the skin off as a young child.
Melody hadn't ever considered the fact that she would have to answer questions about herself like this. It took her a few moments to think over how she should answer it. If it was too in depth or personal, people might grow suspicious, but then again, she doubted that Alyssa would ever look into it. Even if she did look it up on Google, it wouldn't have anything that would help her piece things together. "I think... She didn't want the hand that was dealt to her. It's really weird, she stays away from schools, and is manly active during times where most of the people have thinned out, like she's trying to keep as many people out of it as possible, you know?" She shrugged, "That's all just speculation, though, since I've never gotten to sit down and talk to her about it. I imagine other villains are the same way, they didn't want to be evil, but because of the powers they ended up with, they were type-cast, more or less, and the world would always see them as villains." It was a sad truth, but she had talked to too many of her fellow villains. So many of them had started out with so much hope, some had even tried to be heroes, but had been cast out. They were considered too dangerous, and would have been killed if they hadn't escaped, or been let free by heroes who didn't believe that they deserved to die. The new question distracted her from her little slump, and she looked up at Alyssa again. "Hmm? Oh, no, I think you got everything, thank you."

Alyssa was a bit startled, as well as relieved hearing Melody say that her scars weren't bothersome. "I mean, I guess they do tell a story..." Each one told a story of her failed explosions. "Though, sometimes I wish my skin were smooth like yours. Heh... guess it's true what they say about the grass always being greener..." She thought about if she really was cold. "Yeah... I guess it is pretty chilly, even with your fevered butt pressed up against me." She smirked a bit. "Guess that's because I'm a southerner, huh?" Alyssa remembered how, at first, Melody and her had a few disagreements over the thermostat. Even with how skinny Melody was, she was used to a much colder environment than Alyssa was. "I think a blanket would be nice... But... did you want me to get it?"
Alyssa set the ointment aside and focused on finding a position for her arms to be comfortable. How was one person supposed to sleep in this bed, let alone two? "I guess that makes sense. You know, I never thought about the corruption in the Hero League like that." She had, actually, and was a forerunner for stopping it. In fact, some of the people higher up in the organization disapproved of her being a hero at all due to her psychic explosions. If she wasn't sponsored by five of the greater known heroes, they would have probably canned her. Or worse, put her in one of their facilities. "It's a cryin' shame, I think. I mean, the hero league wasn't put together just as some media and money generating organization, they started it because of people who had super powers." She let out a pent up sigh. "But, I guess that's true of any organization with enough momentum like that going on." Alyssa's mini rant about the Hero League would not only let her vent a bit, it should also eliminate any suspicion that she might be a part of the Hero League.

"You should tell me their stories, someday." She smiled before letting out a dry laugh. "And I wish all of these organs were mine. I would gladly trade some scars for my missing spleen." She yawned and shook her head, leaning back to look up at Alyssa. "I would still have to move, even if you got one, so I might as well." Gingerly, she climbed off of the bed and grabbed a few blankets from her closet. Normally, a sheet was all she needed, but she knew that wouldn't be enough right now. She did wonder for a few moments how they would both fit before climbing back onto the futon. "I think spooning is probably the easiest way for two people to sleep. I'm shorter than you are, so I guess I'll be the little spoon."
Once the topic had shifted again, she considered what Alyssa said, it made her wonder what had happened so long before their time that had set heroes and villains apart. Was it just the war between good and evil? Or was it something more? She shook her head, trying not to let her mind wander too much. As a journalist, she loved drama and action, so it was easy to start with an idea and then run with it, until it had become a fully story. "That's true, there isn't really anything left in the world that is fully free from corruption. Not that I have found, at least." She settled about unfolding and draping the blankets around them, struggling a little to get it spread out enough. "I think we got onto a dark topic, so, how was your day?"

Now Alyssa felt like an ass. When Melody climbed back into the futon, she wrapped her arms around the girl and held onto her tight. It might be the late hour and how tired she felt, but she was feeling a bit emotional. That, coupled with Melody reminding her about what had happened in her past and the accidents she had been in that resulted in so many organs having been damaged beyond repair, made Alyssa feeling rather morose. "Maybe one day I'll tell you them all..." Alyssa had quite a few stories that she stuck with for her scars. Part of her hero training was memorizing stories for situations like this, so she knew what to tell Melody. All of her stories, though, were long. Mainly because she had to corroborate with doctors to come up with stories as to why they were in so many different angles.
Reveling in the warmth between Melody and the blankets, Alyssa let out a yawn. Melody switching the topic of discussion from the corruption of the Hero League was a welcome reprieve. She couldn't help but smile a bit at the sincerity of Melody's question. "Oh... It was rather normal, until you failed to show up at the regular time. You shouldn't worry me like that. And be thankful I'm confident in my first aid skills, otherwise I'd be hauling you off to the hospital." She squeezed Melody, only enough to emphasize that she was saying it because she cared, not to chide her. "Aside from what happened at the end of your... investigation... how was your day?" Alyssa was expecting something interesting from Melody, especially considering the state she came back home.
